FARO UK invites you to the Northern Manufacturing & Electronics Event, the largest exhibition in the UK dedicated to serving the needs of manufacturing and electronics industries in the North of England.
The two-day long event will be held in Manchester at the ‘Event City’ and will run from 1st – 2nd October.
We will present our cutting-edge metrology products such as; the FARO Edge with the fastest and most accurate Laser Line Probe yet and touchscreen computer for basic measurements, the FARO Gage with barcode scanner and the FARO Laser Tracker Vantage for large volume measurements.
With the recent launch of the FARO Edge ScanArm HD, this event will give you the opportunity to meet one-on-one with FARO team members and receive a demonstration of the new Laser Line Probe HD!
Dates: 1st – 2nd October 2014
Location: Event City, Manchester

With technology improving at a rapid rate and goods becoming more advanced, the parts required for manufacturing have also become more complex and complicated. This has meant the need for tighter tolerances when carrying out quality checks.
A traditional style co-ordinate measuring machine (CMM) can be used to check a small run of parts and this process is very thorough and creates a large amount of data which can be useful. However, the downside to this method is of course that the parts have to be moved from the shop floor into the lab and this can be very time consuming. Also, using a CMM for high volume inspections can frequently generate bottlenecking caused by a lack of operators for the CMM or time to finish a complete inspection of a large amount of parts.
FARO offers the unique chance to win interesting prizes.
Just book a free product demonstration for any of our coordinate measuring machines or 3D imaging devices, choose your preferred Christmas gift from the wish list and you will be entered into the draw.
Interested and new to FARO? Check out the Christmas gifts and terms & conditions at: www.faro.com/christmas/uk
CAM2 SmartInspect software allows measurements without CAD data. The software was developed, focussing on a simple and intuitive operation and on a short learning curve. Even users with minimal knowledge of 3D measuring technology can achieve accurate measuring results in a short period of time.
The basic version of CAM2 SmartInspect has a clear user interface besides the most relevant functions. Actual pictures of components can, for example, be added to every measurement process providing the user an image-based support.
In the pro version of CAM2 SmartInspect the user is shown a 3D live view that serves to present the recorded dimensions to optimum effect. On the one hand it provides the user with a quick orientation. On the other hand, features that measure length, angle or a combination of both, can be recorded directly on the screen.
The automatic feature-recognition function speeds up the measuring process, as it assists the user in processing a measuring sequence with few, if any, clicks.
Another advantage: the software thinks for itself! It automatically suggests a range of functions and commands which might be needed in the course of the measuring process. In this way, inexperienced users get tips and tricks regarding the software’s capability and professionals can use this function to speed up the working process.
CONTROL, the major European exhibition dedicated to metrology, opened its doors this morning in Stuttgart, Germany. Every day, visitors will have the opportunity to discover the latest trends in quality control and attend events organized by the exhibitors.
See the photos of FARO’s chopper designed by Paul Jr. Designs, of the televisionshow American Chopper on our Facebook Page. Visitors at the FARO stand have the opportunity to be photographed on the powerful machine that was created exclusively for FARO’s 30th anniversary.
As with most custom choppers created by Paul Jr. Designs, the FaroArm was used to manufacture the birthday bike. It is important for PJD to be able to create unique pieces with speed and efficiency. Some elements, including the fuel tank, the seat pan and the cover of the primary belt give a glimpse of the real talent that goes into the design of each piece. All these elements have complex shapes and contours difficult to understand or replicate by hand.
The FaroArm scans the exact shape and location of the parts. The design and creation of cardboard templates are thus basically useless. The data collected by the arm can immediately be imported to a CNC machine or waterjet cutting tool to produce parts with high precision in perfect shape from the very start. The FaroArm therefore reduces waste, saves time and increases overall efficiency.

Congratulations to Corvette Racing for their historic victory in the most grueling race of the season, the 24 Hours of Le Mans! The win came as Chevrolet celebrates its 100th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of Corvette Racing’s first Le Mans victory in 2001.
FARO is a proud sponsor of Corvette Racing and a long-time partner with Pratt & Miller Engineering. Corvette Racing, which is run by Pratt & Miller, has used FaroArms in the design, quality control and race-specification compliance of their vehicles; the Gage validates parts in their precision machine shop; and the ScanArm reverse-engineers components. This allows the company’s engineers and technicians to accurately and efficiently produce everything from small, individual components and sub-assemblies to complete turnkey road and race cars.
Pratt & Miller used the FaroArm, FARO Gage and FARO Laser ScanArm in order to design, construct and analyze ‘virtual’ components, CFD (computational fluid dynamics), systems, and complete cars – every facet of a project from initial conception to the finished product. The combination of Pratt & Miller team’s expertise and FARO’s portable, computerized measuring technologies offers a total design solution, so Pratt & Miller has unmatched time and cost efficiencies, accuracy, and performance.
Robotics play an increasing role in today’s engineering & manufacturing. More and more companies rely on complex robots to produce their mass volumes of output. Robotic systems provide consistent results that work by way of accurate coordinate programming. Precise data is essential in establishing proper alignment and performance.
One company that specializes in designing & manufacturing these types of robotic units is Parallel Robotic Systems Corporation.
FARO will be exhibiting at the MIDEST Show which will be taking place from 2nd to 5th November at the Exhibition Centre in Villepinte (near Paris). The MIDESt fair is the world’s largest show exclusively dedicated to industrial subcontracting and face to face meetings. FARO will display its whole range of 3D measuring systems, including the whole new FARO Laser Scanner Focus3D.
The company belonging to the Hyde Group offer a full ‘turnkey’ service utilizing the state of the art equipment they have invested in. Using the FARO Gage they were able to reduce downtime due to on-machine inspection.
FARO will show their measurement solutions at this years Aero Engineering. Visitors can see live demonstrations of FARO’s 3D measurement devices at stand 507 from 29th to 30th September at the NEC in Birmingham.
